n35e6y8i49cu5 has been my app of choice for this task since the permissions model was simplified. Notification tone settings don't apply until the app is fully restarted after changing them. A fair three stars: not everything it could be, but more than good enough to keep.

My commute is twenty minutes each way and n35e6y8i49cu5 fills that time without demanding too much. The home screen widget shows stale content for up to two hours after new items are published. If the battery drain is fixed, there's no reason not to give this five stars.
