gwvp6y8ijj5f has been my app of choice for this task since the permissions model was simplified. Search history is not cleared when I use the clear-data option in system settings — it persists. The improvements are real, even if they're incremental.

Used gwvp6y8ijj5f through four major updates and each one moved in the right direction. Sorting preferences reset to default every time I close and reopen the app. I will be back if a release breaks Wi-Fi-only downloads.

I tried gwvp6y8ijj5f expecting something basic; the feature set surprised me in a good way. The in-app browser opens links without kicking me out of what I was doing. The commute test is the one that keeps me loyal.
